Electronic Poker is a beloved game that usually will be wagered on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a web connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the involvement with competing players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards he would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to choose the most beneficial ones each instance.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that have been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the player a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further round is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
