Video Poker is a favored game that can be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, through a web account. The rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players should now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has selected which cards he would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be dealt if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning enthusiasts are able to select the most money-making machine each and every time.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, several versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which case another game is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
